During the weekend of 17-18 May 2025, we celebrated a significant milestone: the 50th anniversary of our current church building. Officially opened on 10 May 1975, this building has served as our home for half a century, following the unification of Easingwold's two Methodist congregations a few years prior (for more information, please visit Our Story). It has been a cherished place for worship, fellowship, pastoral care, and community gatherings.
To commemorate this special occasion, the church opened its doors to the community on Saturday morning, providing refreshments and an opportunity for guests to explore the building and view various displays featuring photographs and memorabilia from the past. Groups that utilise our facilities throughout the week contributed to the festivities with celebratory artwork, while members of the Men's Group, who manage the Oasis Café, served tea, coffee, and an assortment of delicious cakes and biscuits. The joyful atmosphere was enhanced by live music from the Easingwold Town Band, delighting visitors as they relaxed outdoors in the sunshine.
On Sunday morning, we held a heartfelt Service of Thanksgiving, presided over by former ministers of the Church, Revs Elizabeth Cushion and Ruth Duck. The service was followed by a Bring and Share lunch, with congregations from other Easingwold churches, as well as local Methodists, warmly invited to join us in celebration.
